DuckTales Returning with Music from Dominic Lewis
Walt Disney is bringing back DuckTales this summer with music from Dominic Lewis. They have already ordered two seasons worth of the reboot.
DuckTales Returns to Television
What is old is new again as Walt Disney has decided to join the modern reboot revolution and uncancel their late 1980s – early 1990s animated television hit DuckTales. Inspired by the original show, the new show will star David Tennant, Bobby Moynihan, Ben Schwartz, Danny Pudi, Kate Micucci, Toks Olagundoye, Beck Bennett, Tony Anselmo and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Like the original, it will show us the many misadventures of millionaire Scrooge McDuck and his grandnephews as they travel around the world looking for treasure and wealth. Disney has already ordered two seasons, and they will premiere it this summer on Disney XD.
DuckTales was my high school years. I remember getting up early just so I can watch the latest episode. From the trailer (see below), the reboot looks like it captured what made the original series great and made it accessible to today’s kids.

Dominic Lewis Hired to Write the Music
Walt Disney has also hired Dominic Lewis to update the Ron Jones original score for the reboot. Lewis recently finished the score for the third season of Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, as well as the upcoming animated feature Henchmen. From the new theme song, Lewis does seem like a good fit for the show.
The main theme by Felicia Barton, which you can buy and download from Amazon, is just a cover of the original series theme song, which I just love. It shows that while Disney wants kids watching the series they understand there are adults that want to watch it as well. That is a good sign for any show. Let’s hope it will be a success so they can make others as I would love to see a reboot of Darkwing Duck.
