Forces of Destiny

Lucasfilm is giving us a new Star Wars Miniseries called Forces of Destiny. They hired Ryan Shore to write the music for it.

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is not Shore’s first foray into animation. His previous scoring work include Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery, Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon, and Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. The series is first web series though.

The Walt Disney and Lucasfilm animated web miniseries will take the form of an anthology chronicling the individual stories of pivotal characters from Star Wars. Some of these include Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and others. The series stars Felicity Jones, Daisy Ridley, Ashley Eckstein, Lupita Nyong’o as the voices of their respective characters.

The series is a collection of 2- to 3-minute episodes all upload to Disney’s YouTube channel. The network also plans to broadcast the miniseries on the Disney Channel later this year as a 2-part special. Eight episodes are available as of this post. I included the playlist below for your convenience.

Lucasfilm used the animation style they used for the old Clone Wars miniseries. It is clean and crisp, and fun to watch. I wish the episodes were longer though. They end just as they start getting good. Still, the series is very enjoyable. I recommend it if you are either a Star Wars fan, science fiction fan, or an animation fan. I would also recommend watching the series online so that more studios see the benefits of web animation.
