All I Want for Christmas is You

The holiday preseason continues with a new album from Mariah Carey. She calls it All I Want for Christmas is You. It is the soundtrack for the animated direct-to-video movie of the same name.

Epic Records released Carey’s new holiday album last week Friday (November 10, 2017). It contains 9 tracks from the animated film which Carey executive produced and narrated herself. The film is based on Carey’s bestselling book All I want for Christmas is You as well as her classic Christmas hit single.

Carey’s new soundtrack album contains the new Christmas track Lil’ Snowman. While I do not mind new Christmas music, time will tell if it becomes a new holiday classic. Critics describe the new song as “gusts of snow-kissed production”. They also claim that  Carey sings with a “chilly and catchy verses before delivering a warm and wonderful chorus, stirring up a blizzard of fun in the process”.

Other holiday favorites on the album include Christmas Time is in the Air Again, Miss You Most (At Christmas Time), and All I Want for Christmas is You. Brianna Yde als sings her own rendition of the title track.

You can buy the “All I Want for Christmas is You” soundtrack here from Amazon, and the film here.

While I do enjoy the song, I do not know how much story you can get out of it. Still, here we are with a full book, movie, and a soundtrack. I might catch it if it receives a television airing, but I will probably not go out of my way to watch it.

The soundtrack is a different story. I might pick it up just to have it for my collection. Only time will tell.
